FOLDABLE PHONES

One of the major breakthroughs in the smartphone industry is the creation of foldable phones. Foldable phones are a family of smartphone form factor utilizing hinged flexible displays.
Devices whose displays fold on a vertical axis are designed to fold out into a wider tablet-like form, but are still usable in a smaller folded state; the display may either wrap around to the back or use a booklet-like design, where the larger folded screen is located on the interior and a screen on its 'cover' allows the user to interact with the device without opening it.
In April 2019,the impending launch of the Samsung Galaxy Fold was met with quality concerns from critics, after widespread reports of review units experiencing varying form of display failures. Samsung indefinitely postponed the device's release, stating that it needed time to investigate the failure and improve the device's durability. Huawei also delayed its Mate X, with the company citing its desire to take a 'cautious' approach due to the Galaxy Fold. Both phones were eventually released for sale.
In November 2019, Motorola unveiled its horizontal folding Razr. Five days after, Samsung followed suite, with a silar device known as the Galaxy Z Flip; the first foldable phone with a glass display.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip
Foldable phones are flexible, plastic OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) displays rather than glass. Plastic displays are naturally capable of sustaining the required bend radius of a foldable phone. Samsung market its Galaxy Z Flip as featuring 30μm (0.0012 inch) thick 'ultra-thin glass' with a plastic layer similar to the Galaxy Fold, manufactured by Samsung with materials from Schott AG, which is produced using an intensifying process to enhance its flexibility and durability and injected with a 'special material up to an undisclosed depth to achieve a consistent hardness'.

Acer Spin 1
Samsung NC110

Convertibles, hybrids and 2-in-1 laptops: Covertibles emerged as crossover devices which share traits of both tablets and laptops. All such devices have a touchscreen display designed to allow users to work in a tablet mode, using multi-touch gestures or a digital pen/stylus.
Hybrids have a keyboard detachment mechanism and due to this feature, all critical components are situated in the path with the display. 2-in-1s,however, can have a hybrid or a convertible form, often dubbed as 2-in-1 detachables and 2-in-1 convertibles respectively, but are distinguished by the ability to run a desktop operating system (such as Windows 10). 2-in-1s are often marketed as laptop replacement tablets.
